Planning your bridal appointment is an exciting milestone—but it also comes with a few unspoken rules that can help you have a successful and stress-free dress shopping experience. At Princess Bridals, we’ve been guiding brides for decades and know that a little preparation and etiquette go a long way.
If you’re getting ready to visit our Long Island bridal boutique, here’s everything you need to know to make your bridal appointment seamless, respectful, and truly unforgettable.
1. Book Ahead and Be Punctual
Always schedule your appointment in advance. Weekends and popular dates fill up fast—especially for our coveted VIP Appointments, which offer an exclusive, private experience. Once your appointment is set, arriving on time is crucial. Being punctual ensures you get the full time allotted with your dedicated stylist and avoids overlap with other brides.
If something changes, kindly call our Appointments team to reschedule.
2. Limit Your Entourage
While it’s tempting to bring your entire bridal party, less is more when it comes to your support team. We recommend bringing 2–3 people whose opinions you trust. Too many voices can overwhelm you and make it harder to focus on how you feel in the gowns. Remember—this is YOUR moment.
3. Be Open-Minded
You might come in with your heart set on a specific silhouette, like a ballgown or mermaid dress. But our expert stylists may suggest trying something unexpected based on your body shape, vision, and venue. Trust their experience! Some of our most magical dress moments have come from brides saying, “I never thought I’d love this style.”

4. Wear Proper Undergarments
To get the most accurate fit and feel, wear nude or light-colored undergarments, a strapless bra, and if possible, shapewear. You’ll be changing in and out of dresses, so comfort and modesty matter. You’ll also want to bring heels close to your planned wedding-day height.
We explain these details during our gown fitting process—part of our trusted Bridal Learning Center.
5. Speak Up (Respectfully)
Communication is key. Be honest with your stylist about what you love—or don’t love. Your feedback helps us narrow down your preferences. If you’re unsure or need a break, just let us know. We’re here to make this an enjoyable and pressure-free experience.
6. Be Mindful of Time
Appointments typically run for 60 to 90 minutes. Respecting this timeframe ensures every bride gets the attention she deserves. If you feel like you need extra time or want to come back for a second look, we’re happy to schedule a follow-up.
7. No Food or Drinks in the Boutique
To preserve the pristine condition of our gowns, we ask that guests refrain from bringing snacks or drinks into the fitting areas. Save the celebratory champagne for after you say “yes!”
8. Don’t Forget to Celebrate the Moment
Finding your dream gown is a big deal—and we’ll be cheering right alongside you! Our team often captures that “yes” moment for your memories. Take a moment to soak it all in—you deserve it.
Bonus Tip: Schedule Your “Finishing Touches” Appointment
After selecting your gown, don’t forget about The Finishing Touches Appointment—a second visit to choose your accessories like veils, jewelry, and headpieces. This exclusive follow-up is a Princess Bridals signature, ensuring your complete bridal look shines.
Why Etiquette Matters
Etiquette isn’t about being formal—it’s about showing respect for the process, the professionals helping you, and other brides sharing the space. It creates a warm, positive atmosphere where magic can happen.
